Description
This car, built by Philippe de Lespinay in September 1972, revolutionized the slot car design and established what became the modern slot car. It featured a solid center section with independent front wheels (from which the “Diamond” name was devised) and the first “pillow block” rear-axle construction, this one featuring no less then 3 ball bearings to support the axle.
This car won several important races in 1973 and finished in 2nd place at the 1973 nationals, betrayed by failing motors.
Simplified production examples allowed many amateurs to win local races for several years.
