Description
For 1966, Classic revamped the successful Manta Ray with yet another new chassis for the new Mabuchi FT36D, now driving the gears from its can side. The new motor was dubbed Classic CM360 and was fitted with brush heat sinks and a hotter wind. The new chassis had an additional bracket retaining the large can bearing.
Also new was a proprietary guide flag, molded in black glass-filled nylon using a very thin blade. There were no changes on the body mold but decoration changed again, now using a racing number with roundel outline.
The box now had an added colorful folded display card pinched between tray and inner box, while the outer box was upgraded to show the new “360” motor. These Series 2 models also received a yellow sticker on top of the box to clearly show the upgrading.
