After producing the Astro-V in kit form, by mid-1966, kids were reluctant to spend time building, and many slot car manufacturers issued ready to race models. The Astro-V RTR was produced in dark metallic red, blue or green. Some of the earliest issues used up the leftover silver bodies from the kits.
