The Gardena Rubber Company produced tires for other slot car companies. In the last months of 1965, they issued their sole slot car, a rugged instrument molded of Cycolac plastic that also served as chassis for the Mabuchi FT16D powered car. Sales were OK for a while as raceway owners used the nearly indestructible car for rental purposes, but its poor handling discouraged lots of would be racers. In 1966, a factory-built RTR appeared, but by then, sales had plunged and the company pulled out of slot car racing in early 1967. The car exists in several colors, of which white and yellow appear to be most common.
