Description

The Prince Motor Co produced good quality but expensive sedans in the 1960s. To help sagging sales and to prove the worth of their models, they went racing. If racing sedans was not enough, at the end of 1964, they purchased a British-built Brabham BT8 sports racer fitted with their inline-6 twin-cam engine and built a coupe body over it. Rechristened “Prince R380”, the car was successful enough to lead to the construction of 4 more copies that entered the Japan Grand Prix II in 1967. But sales of road cars became dismal and Prince was absorbed by Nissan in 1970. The Tokyo Plamo kit is another one of these naive Japanese slot car kits, where precision and faithfulness was replaced by charm. This is the export issue, with instructions in English. Another version for domestic use did not include a motor and instructions were printed in Japanese.
