Description

In 1963, Stylist Virgil Exner designed a series of cars of which at least two were actually built, a Stutz “Blackhawk” and a “Mercer”. The Mercer was built over a Cobra chassis.
Plastic model kit maker Renwal made their entry (and quick exit) in the slot car racing field with these two 1/25-scale models, based on a brass chassis powered by the ubiquitous Mabuchi FT36D mounted inline, very reminiscent of the similar Monogram design. Poor sales resulted but the kits are not too hard to come by today. Of the two, the Stutz is a bit harder to find in its original packaging.
