Description
This kit is one of the most sought-after in the world of slot car collectors. While it is not too difficult to find an assembled model, very few mint, sealed kits have survived and can probably be counted on a few hands worldwide. This example, one of three at the LASCM, is pristine.
Unlike its brothers using the aluminum inline “IFC” chassis, the magnesium chassis and sidewinder motor of this rare version allowed for a full cockpit with fully detailed driver. Unfortunately, most surviving examples were poorly assembled and over-glued by their young owners, making restoration sometimes difficult. The plastic is also sensitive to a chemical reaction from the original tires that changes the pristine white body color in a rather ugly yellow. it is recommended to store the completed models in a well ventilated display.
