Carrera slot cars from Germany were made in both the 1/32 and 1/24 scale. After the typical toy-ish humble beginnings, Carrera took inspiration from the Russkit Carrera Series chassis and body to make their own version of it, replacing the aluminum with glass-filled nylon. This design was successful enough to last until the early 1990’s. Carrera at first, sold their 1/24 scale cars strictly as kits, later only as RTRs, some for home-racing use with scale wheels, others with sponge tires for commercial tracks.
