Testor came onto the slot car scene in 1966 and for three short years, produced some of the prettiest, most desirable collectible slot cars today. The 1966 1/24 scale kits included clear plastic vacuum formed bodies, plus paint and brushes to decorate the bodies. Some of the cars were factory assembled and decorated, issued as ready to race models. In 1968, Testor issued some of the nicest, best painted ready to race slot cars in gorgeous packaging ever issued by any manufacturer.
It is amazing to find out on the current Testors Company website that these beautiful toys are completely ignored, the focus being on earlier rather cheap balsa-wood gliders. Are they ashamed of their products?
