Pactra was already in the model paint business when slot car racing hit the market in a big way. Pactra purchased Stormer body company and the company was briefly called the Pactra-Stormer Corporation. In 1966, they also acquired the Competition Products slot car manufacturing company in Santa Ana and used it as a low-cost product line. Pactra purchased Japanese Igarashi motors and had Co,petition make complex soldered brass-tubing chassis fitted around the smaller version of these motors, sold in kit and RTR versions. Most famous Pactra car is the American Red Ball Spl, a Lola T80/90 that won the 1966 Indy 500. The simpler Competiton cars are very similar but feature no drop arms and use a Mabuchi motor. Both are very collectible but again condition is utmost in determining their value.
