Description
The SS101 was the last motor issued by Globe-Versitec for slot car use. It used the same armature as the previous SS91 with circular magnet in a new two-piece can with two plastic ends. It also used the same brushes and springs. The SS101 first came with no can vent holes, but later had some as it got a bit hot in there. The last armatures received dynamic balancing. Globe also had a line of sidewinder and inline chassis for their SS81/91 and 101 motors, as well as precision ball bearings for 1/8″ axles.
The motors were of superb quality but were expensive, and their 1/8″ shaft limited their use as it was not so easy to find the proper gearing. The SS101 was especially awkward to mount on a chassis.
