One of the mythical slot cars produced in the 1960’s, this Dean Jeffries modified Chrysler Imperial was devised for the “Green hornet” TV show. The BZ model was the only licensed toy with the Aurora and Corgi models. But the BZ is the most sought after as it is by far, the rarest today. The maker of the body pattern, Lloyd Asbury, estimated that body-supplier Lancer did not deliver more than 1000 pressings to BZ, as sales plummeted when the TV show was canceled as the model was issued.
The model had two distinct chassis, the first being made from a tooling identical to that of the Classic Manta Ray. As legal issues came to be, BZ has a new chassis made using a gold painted aluminum pressing with a polished aluminum drop arm, that was also used on other BZ models, the Ferrari 275P and the Ford GT, as well as the Little Red Wagon.
The painted body looked sinister and the model had terrific character. The box is even rarer that the toy, often found with body cracks.
