Description
The MDC company advertized this model in 1966, but while a few prototypes were produced in various forms, it was never issued to the public.
The chassis was a “skeleton” cast in magnesium, a material familiar to MDC. The Mabuchi FT16D motor sat on its side, allowing smaller gears and smaller wheels.
The body was made of injected black or red plastic (both colors are known to exist), but there was a major issue to begin with: the molded holes in the body did not match those cast and tapped in the chassis! Ooops. It also appears that the clear cockpit mold and that of the front valance were never completed.
Prototypes shown in period pictures were likely all made from a vacuum formed body of the “Bat”, that was available to the public but is somewhat scarce today.
Several different prototypes are shown here.
