LASCM Website now open, or is it?

October 17th, 2008 · 9 Comments

On behalf of Scott Bader, without whom none of this would have been possible, please let me welcome you to what promises to be a great website for the vintage electric model car racing enthusiast. This website is presently and slowly being filled with what will be the world’s largest bank of visual and technical information the hobby has ever known. The focus of the museum is targeted on American slot racing models produced between 1961 and 1973, as well as models from other nations obviously inspired by them.
The museum also has a large and growing collection of professional racing hand built slot cars as well as related artifacts dating from as early as 1913.  A large collection of original box art, posters, advertising and a library will complete the museum, that already contains the largest collection in the world.
We have big plans for the future and invite your comments, suggestions and wishes.

What a great start. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next. Also how much longer do I have to wait before the History of Slot Cars is out?

As you have opportunity, I would like to see the museum open its own store, offering things like slot car apparel, calendars, etc. that would not only recognize and celebrate the history of the slot car but also promote this great hobby. Thanks for all you are doing to preserve and present slot car history worldwide.

you have put in an enormous amount of work, but your museum home page should have a brief intro for newbies, young people and also from overseas who, like me, had never encountered this hobby. otherwise – brilliant.

Do you have information about the 1965-66 1/24 Corvette (Issued in hard plastic red body) possibly as a RTR with the 3 piece Brass chassis like the 1/32 scale late issued Chaparral, Cooper Cobra, Cobra, Mercedes, Corvette and Ferrari?

    Hello there!
If there is such a LASCM, amazing.
I grew up in NE Ohio and now live in Orange, CA. I started racing at the “Slot Shop” in Elyria, Ohio in 1968. I still have my “slotbox”.
If there is a local contact here in Socal, please pass it on…
    Thanks,
    RG

Yes, we do and are looking for the outer box for that kit that included the built car and a red controller with alligator clips. One is on display at the LASCM at this time.
