Chaparral 2E

After years of uncertainty as far as its actual fate, it now appears that the elusive Chaparral 2E, the last model by Becks & Zimmermann, was actually produced, even if in miniscule quantities. Indeed this pair of survivors recently appeared, so far the only boxed example known to exist.
The retailer's sticker on the side of the box gives credence to some commercialization, but the LASCM believes that it was extremely limited. Possibly as few as 100 models may have been produced, most shipped to distributors worldwide for their appraisal, then some passed along to dealers as this example.
Complexity of assembly and the impossibility for a customer to remove the body without breaking the wing struts may explain why virtually all of the few cars ever discovered have severed or missing struts.
